Our Mission
The City of Lights Chorus is dedicated to achieving the maximum enjoyment of close-harmony a cappella singing in the Barbershop style by achieving the highest level of singing and performing quality as determined by our membership, our audiences, the community seeking live entertainment and competition results.
We believe everyone deserves to experience the joy, the camaraderie and the uniqueness that Barbershop Singing offers thousands of men throughout the world.
Our History
We have been in existance since just before 2000. The Chorus was reorganized under the direction of Scott Fewell in October 2003. There were nine of us singing that first month under Scott. After two years of hard work on our singing and recruiting new members, we grew to 35 men on the risers.
In the Spring of 2005 we started a string of four years winning our Division Class and qualifying to sing in the District contest. We also qualified for District in 2009 but decided to take the year off from compeating and work on our singing quality. We returned to the contest stage in 2010 and entered the District Contest seeded 9th and finishing 7th (2nd in Class). This was our best finish at Dictrict since the Chorus reorganized.
The City of Lights Chorus is proud to be part of the Far Western District, one of the largest and most active of the 16 Districts comprising the Barbershop Harmony Society. Our society is a non-profit organization with the purpose of preserving the unique American art form known as Barbershop Singing.
Our Vision, Purpose & Goals
The City of Lights Chorus will continue to grow, striving constantly in an atmosphere of fun and fraternity for musical and performing excellence, with a goal to perform regularly for the public and reach-out to those under-served by live entertainment in the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding areas such as schools and Seniors..
